What this covers

This page applies to the photographs, image files, captions, embedded metadata, page copy, and visual presentation on Ethan Hyde Photography and related Ethan Hyde photography properties, unless a specific page or a written agreement says otherwise.

Third-party tools, fonts, libraries, platform code, and embedded services stay under their own licenses. The site's source code is not offered as open source unless a specific repository file says so.

What you are welcome to do

• View and browse the site.
• Link to any public page on the site.
• Share links to the portfolio, the prints page, or an individual photo page.
• Save page addresses for your own reference.
• Share one unaltered low-resolution preview image from the site in a personal, non-commercial social media post, as long as the post credits Ethan Hyde clearly and links back to ethanhydephotography.com or the original page.

That sharing permission is for ordinary personal sharing, appreciation, discussion, and recommendation. It does not cover advertising, resale, merchandise, brand use, paid posts, use in another person's portfolio, or uploading images to stock libraries, datasets, wallpaper sites, print-on-demand services, or AI systems.

Uses that need my written permission

Get a license or written permission from me before using an image or site content for any of these:

• Commercial, promotional, sponsored, or brand use.
• Prints, products, merchandise, packaging, posters, album art, book covers, or magazine and book layouts.
• Reposting by businesses, publications, nonprofits, tourism accounts, galleries, or commercial social media pages.
• Film, video, broadcast, presentation, classroom, conference, or exhibition use.
• Website headers, backgrounds, templates, app assets, or design references.
• Any use where the image becomes part of another product, service, campaign, dataset, or archive.

What is not allowed

Without a written license from me, do not:

• Copy, reproduce, redistribute, sell, license, sublicense, or publish images outside the sharing permission above.
• Remove, crop out, obscure, or alter watermarks, copyright notices, captions, or embedded metadata.
• Modify images, make derivative works, apply filters, composite them, or use them as raw material for another artwork or product.
• Hotlink, frame, mirror, bulk-download, scrape, archive, or serve images from another site, app, CDN, or service.
• Use images in advertising, political messaging, fundraising, endorsements, sponsorships, or paid social posts.
• Suggest that I endorse, sponsor, or am affiliated with a person, brand, product, cause, or organization.

Licensing a photo

I license photographs directly, for editorial and commercial use. A licensed use is permitted under a written license from me, and it covers only what that license states.

Start with the licensing library. Each photograph in it is marked either editorial use only or all uses, and each has its own page with a request form. The license terms set out what a license covers, and the rate guide lists what each kind of use costs. Editorial web use starts at $75 per use, editorial print at $250 per use, and commercial web and social at $250 per year. Advertising, merchandise, broadcast, exclusive rights, and AI use are quoted. Commercial web and social use, advertising, and merchandise are available only for photographs marked all uses; a photograph marked editorial use only is never licensed for them.

To ask about a photograph, use the request form, or send me a message through the contact page with the photo, what you plan to do with it, where it will appear, for how long, and in which territory. I reply with a quote. Where a written license from me and this page differ, the written license controls.

AI, scraping, and automated systems

Search engines and other crawlers may discover and index the site as robots.txt allows. That permission is for discovery and search only. It is not permission to reuse images or metadata.

Without a separate written license, images, captions, metadata, and page content may not be used to train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, benchmark, validate, augment, or improve machine learning systems, generative AI systems, computer vision systems, datasets, embeddings, classifiers, or model outputs.

No scraping, mass downloading, dataset creation, synthetic-data generation, or automated ingestion is permitted beyond ordinary search-engine discovery.

When I have given permission, put this credit near the image unless the written license says otherwise:

For personal social sharing under the permission above, use a visible credit in the caption and link to ethanhydephotography.com or the original page.

Prints, commissions, and takedowns

For prints, commissions, takedown requests, or reports of infringement, use the contact page. Include the address of the page or image, what you want to do or what you found, and how to reach you. Prints of listed photographs are on the prints page.

Fair use and legal rights

Nothing here is meant to limit rights the law does not allow me to limit, including fair use, commentary, criticism, news reporting, and other statutory exceptions where they apply.

Except for the permissions stated here or in a separate written agreement, I keep the copyright and related rights in my work.

Enforcement

Friendly sharing is welcome. Unauthorized commercial use, scraping, AI ingestion, removal of credit or metadata, impersonation, or resale may lead to takedown requests, platform reports, licensing invoices, legal claims, and other remedies the law allows.

Governing law

Nevada law governs this page where the law permits. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada, unless the law requires another forum.

No warranty

Site content is provided as it is. I make no promise that an image or other content suits any particular use by someone else.
